Competition Teams
The Riverview High School NJROTC Competition Team consists of seven entities: Unarmed/Armed Exhibition and Basic Drill Team, Rifle Team, Color Guard, Athletic Team, Academic Team and Orientating Team.
The Competition Team travel around area 7 competing in competitions held at other high schools such as Tampa Bay Tech and Spoto High School. The high level of performance that the Competition Teams consistently maintain is due to the teams dedication, preparation and the competitive spirit of our cadets.
Armed Basic Drill Team
Cadet are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the military standard of drill and ceremony. Drill is the procedure of marching within a squad or platoon, displaying sharp movements and attention to detail as a unit. The focus of the rifle drill squad is to promote the military custom of drill, harvest camaraderie within the team, and participate in drill competitions against other NJROTC units.
Armed Exhibition Drill Team
The Armed Exhibition Drill Teams are composed of cadets who are particularly interested in the sharpness and precision developed through manual of arms. The team represent Riverview High School in parades, ceremonies, and competitions with other JROTC units. They are expected to set the highest standards for the unit in terms of sharpness, discipline, grooming and performance. Unarmed Exhibition Drill Team
Unarmed Drill is a competition team which demonstrates discipline and precision from many hours of dedicated practice and determination.

Academic Team
The Academic Team is composed of cadets who are particularly interested in academics, and who are willing to devote extra effort in representing the Unit in academic competition against NJROTC units locally and in the NJROTC national academic examination.
Athletic Team
The Athletic Team is composed of cadets who are willing to devote time and effort in becoming more physically fit, so they can represent the unit in competition at Field Meets.

Marksmanship Team (Air Rifle)
Our air rifle team shoots Sporter class air rifles authorized by the Department of the Navy and the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Rifle team membership requires cadets to complete a comprehensive weapons safety course prior to qualifying live fire. Air rifle marksmanship is a NCAA Division I sport and can lead to scholarship opportunities for top shooters. Shooting is a year round sport with local, regional, and national competitions.
