1.  The NJROTC Area SEVEN sanctioned Basic Leadership Training Camp will be held at Tanah Keeta Boy Scout Reservation in Jupiter from 27 July-2 Aug.  The camp is available to both new incoming cadets and returning cadets.  Training and activities will include military drill, naval science studies, followership, leadership, swimming, marksmanship shooting, archery, COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) low course, rockwall climbing, canoeing, and orienteering.  The staff will consist of Naval Science Instructors, Boy Scout Camp Instructors, and a cadre of senior NJROTC Cadets who will lead, conduct training, and mentor participants.

2.   The cost for camp is $170 per cadet trainee, with a $10 discount if the cadet is registered with the Boy Scouts of America. The camp fee includes food, lodging (in tents), 3 BLTC T-Shirts, PT Shorts, water bottle, ball cap, and insurance.

3.  All Cadet Trainees report to camp on Monday evening, July 28th between 1800 and 1900 (6pm to 7pm).  Please do not arrive early, unless it has been pre-approved.  Be sure your cadet eats supper before he/she arrives because there will be no food served until the next morning.  There are many restaurants at the Jupiter exit.  All parents, family, and friends are invited to attend the Graduation and Awards Ceremony at 11:00am on Saturday, August 2nd.  Cadets depart right after the ceremony.

4.  Enclosure (1) is the Letter of Instruction (LOI) which contains additional information including selection criteria, course completion requirements, tentative schedule of events, etc.  Be sure to review the rest of this cover letter and the LOI before submitting paperwork.

5.  Enclosure (2) is a comprehensive Standard Release Form.  Ensure the medical and dental accident insurance data is complete.  The insurance company name, address, policy ID number, and telephone number are required.  If you have no insurance write “none.”  Enclosure (3) is the standard NJROTC Health Risk Screening Form which must be completed within the last 60 days prior to arrival.  Enclosure (4) is the standard Florida high school athletic physical form.  Any other similar form is acceptable.  You may keep your original and send in a copy.  The physical exam must have been completed within the last year.

6.  Enclosure (5) is the Venturer application which enables cadets to utilize Boy Scout facilities and includes insurance.  If already registered, please include the Ship, Crew, or Troop number and Council name in Enclosure (2).

7.  Enclosure (6) is a Packing Checklist.  An inspection of all items will be held on the first day and cadets missing important required items may be sent home.  Upon arrival, all cadets should wear NJROTC unit or civilian PT gear (gym t-shirt & shorts).

8.  Enclosure (7) is a map to camp.

9.  There will be a very limited opportunity for outstanding senior cadets to serve on the BLTC cadre staff.  Most will be Leadership Academy and BLTC grads with solid leadership experience in their units.  The cost for cadet staff is the same as cadet trainees, even though it is one day longer.  Staff training will begin at 1300 (1:00) on Sunday, July27th.  See Enclosure (8) for a cadet staff application.  The deadline for cadet staff applications is May 10th.  They may be faxed to (772) 344-4471.

10.  BLTC is physically, emotionally, and mentally demanding.  All cadets who come prepared and with a positive attitude will enjoy a very worthwhile learning experience.  Participation in BLTC is voluntary and on a first come, first served basis.  Space is limited so get your paperwork in early.  This is an opportunity to get ahead in the NJROTC program and for everyone to have some fun.
